Moldavian Ukrainian Translation
The Moldovan language is a language related to the Balkan-Romance sub-group of the Romance languages. Almost all contemporary linguists are convinced that “Romanian” and “Moldovan” are just merely different names of one language and thus, the Moldovan language should be perceived as a lingvonim of the Romanian language.
The Romanian language (Moldovan language) is the national language of two independent states – Romania (the number of native speakers is about 20 million people) and the Republic of Moldova (about 2.5 million). In addition, the Romanian language is native to almost 400 thousand Ukrainians; about 200 thousand people in Transnistria, as well as in some areas of Serbia, Hungary, Albania, and Macedonia use it. About two million speakers of the Romanian language currently live in the countries of the European Union (in Spain, Italy, Portugal, France, Germany, Great Britain), as well as in the USA and Canada, Israel and Russia (most in Moscow and the region).
The literary Moldovan language began to take shape in the XVI-XVII centuries, but finally was formed by the second half of the XIX century. Language differences between the Romanian and the Moldovan languages began to appear in the XIX century, when the state of Romania was created in 1859. The Romanian language underwent drastic transformation, when Slavic lexemes were actively withdrawn and new French, Latin and Italian substitutes were introduced.
In December of 2013, the Constitutional Court of Moldova recognized Romanian as the official language of Moldova that is currently based on the Latin alphabet.
Hence, it can be said that Moldovan and Romanian languages are practically identical languages.
Romanian (Moldovan) is a very unique language with many dialects. It also contains many words borrowed from the surrounding Slavic languages, and also from French, Old Church Slavonic, German, Greek and Turkish.
